Computer based GRE is the exam most of the students would be taking. The structure of revised GRE is slightly different than the old one. It consists of 3 sections as outlined below.
Revised GRE Structure
|Quantitative Reasoning||35 minutes for each section||Consists of two sections. Each section has 20 questions.|
|Verbal reasoning||30 minutes for each section||Consists of two sections. Each section has 20 questions.|
|Analytical Writing||One “Analyze an Issue” task and one “Analyze an Argument” task||30 minutes per task|
Total time for the exam: 190 minutes or 3 hrs and 10 minutes.
There is an unidentified unscored section that does not count toward your score may be included and may appear in any order after the Analytical Writing section.
In place of an unscored section, you may get an identified research section. The research section will always appear at the end of the test. Questions in this section are included for ETS research purposes and this does not count towards your score.
The Analytical Writing section will always be first. The Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning and unidentified/unscored sections may appear in any order; therefore, you should treat each section as if it counts toward your score
More details of these sections can be found here
